Nominations for NCHELP committees are accepted online from NCHELP member organizations.  Please contact your organization's primary NCHELP contact to fill out a nomination form for he nominee.  Committee terms run from July 1 through June 30 each year except for the Membership Education and Training Committee that runs concurrent with the calendar year.

Debt Management Committee
The focus of the NCHELP Debt Management Committee is to assist industry participants with default reduction initiatives. The Committee will pursue its mission by actively participating in the analysis, direction, and monitoring of issues relating to and impacting the management of student debt in the Federal Family Education Loan Programs.

Electronic Standards Committee
NCHELP recently established an Electronic Standards Committee to replace the current CommonLine Committee. This committee serves as the next evolutionary step to establish a coordinated and proactive approach for all NCHELP electronic standardization efforts. This re-design of the CommonLine, CAM, and CCI initiatives moves the oversight of CAM and CCI from the Program Operations Committee to the new Electronic Standards Committee. The Program Operations Committee will continue to monitor and respond to issues that involve and impact loan operations as well as work closely with the Electronic Standards Committee.

Financial Aid Professionals Committee
The FAPC will help NCHELP achieve its mission of continuing to ensure the integrity of the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and will help to ensure adequate and affordable access to quality higher education for all students at all levels.

Legal Affairs Committee
The Legal Affairs Committee's most public activity is the sponsorship of several open meetings throughout the year. The committee meets during both the Spring and Fall Conventions and holds its own meetings in the Winter and Summer. These meetings address both guarantor issues as well as lender and secondary market issues of concern to NCHELP members and FFELP participants. Along with these services, the committee serves as a resource for NCHELP on legal topics.

Membership Education and Training Committee
The Membership Education and Training Committee provides training opportunities and information materials to the NCHELP membership. In addition to planning the annual Training Conference, the MET Committee maintains and distributes the "Orientation to the Student Loan Industry" program to the NCHELP membership and develops effective informational brochures and materials outlining the structure and benefits derived from being an NCHELP member.

Private Loan Committee
The NCHELP Private Loan Committee tracks the private education loan market by gathering statistics and projecting trends, monitors consumer credit legislative and regulatory activities, gathers information on state consumer credit laws and research data from such sources at the FTC, FDIC, and the Federal Reserve, and assists the MET Committee in providing training on private loans to NCHELP members. The Private Loan Committee also works with national banking associations such as the CBA, ABA and credit union associations to stay abreast of issues impacting the private loan market.

Program Operations Committee
The Program Operations Committee monitors and responds to issues that involve and impact loan operations and related federal reporting. The committee serves as a clearinghouse for information and coordinates the development of common and simplified forms, procedures, and policies between guaranty agencies, lenders/servicers, secondary markets and other participants. Of particular interest to the Program Operations committee is the fostering of new technology within the student loan industry.

Program Regulations Committee
The Program Regulations Committee is responsible for all activity in the regulatory arena including developing NCHELP responses to Notices of Proposed Rule Making and other subregulatory issues. The committee also develops extensive regulatory documentation for dissemination to NCHELP members and other interested parties.
